The project was to transform this former barn into residential low energy. Using conventional chassis with high performance glazing, insulating the floor with polyurethane insulation and the roof with wood wool are not a problem. The heat insulation of facades, however, has been a long discussion: should focus on safeguarding the exterior frames visible (and insulate walls from the inside) or should it focus on lack of thermal bridging by insulating the exterior walls (and remove the stone frames)?
The solution was to isolate the exterior facades, using an EPS panel coated with a plaster. But to keep this house its classic look, dear to the Owner, it was decided to reconstruct the frames with a stucco imitating natural stone, applied to frames in EPS panels. Thermal bridges are thus minimized and the appearance of the facade saved.
This solution was implemented both in front than back cover.
thresholds of windows have been carved into the stone (stone Jaumont), with the overflow wanted to cover the 8 cm + plaster insulation. Uprights and lintels are covered a plaster imitation stone.
The transoms were "remade" identical, but with a continuous thermal insulation.

A Chantemelle, we built a second home in the barn this beautiful home. The intervention on the front is minimalist: Changing the frame of the barn door (garage door bottom and fanlight above), creating a vertical rack and installation of 2 Velux.
The front door of the second housing is located at the back ...
... where the intervention is summarized in the creation of a contemporary volume of zinc coated tape and the installation of 2 Velux too.
The interior ambience desired by the client combines steel, wood and natural stone.

halls Idelux relay - prefabrication
Back on the competition (design-implementation) of halls relay HQE Idelux. The first two buildings are being finished at Bastogne. Here is an illustration of how prefabrication imagined by the team of three companies: Artbois SA (company framing), Jean-Claude Goffaux SPRL (office stability studies) and Clair Arch (architecture), accompanied by the general contractor Hons SA. The halls are currency modules leaflets completely manufactured in the workshop.

The modules are then unfolded completely.
They are then transported by crane to the mounting area ...
... and deposited on the previously cast foundation plinths.
Note that the modules are brought on site with thermal insulation (24 cm cellulose wadding), sealing EPDM roofing, polycarbonate skylights and interior painting.
